COMMUNICATION via TEXT: Please note that I am a one-man show. TEXT has become my administrative assistant, the method of communication I use most. It heps me keep track of details and enables me to respond as time permits. For most jobs I charge an hourly rate and when I am working a job I typically will not respond to a TEXT until the job is done, or if I take a break, which is rare, because my time is being paid for by the customer I am performing services for. I do a lot, but I do not do EVERYTHING! FIXFAST TECHNICIAN: I changed my title from "HANDYMAN" to "FIXFAST TECHNICIAN" as it more appropriately helps define the types of services I provide.

"Handyman" is a very broad term, I am more of a repair and replace type technician, with a host of other generalized skills which I do my best to describe on this website. When I used the "Handyman" title, people were expecting me to perform tasks I do not do like the job the guy in this picture on the left is doing.

MY BACKGROUND: I served 2 enlistments in the USAF, 3.5 years as a Firefighter, 18 years in flight operations and maintenance in the world of aviation / aerospace, and I was also a Home Inspector in Colorado. Through all of those experiences I learned about building codes, safety, security, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, environmental systems (heating, air conditioning, and power generation), mechanical and electrical skills, proofloading, testing, troubleshooting, structures and structural integrity, and many more highly-complex and related skills.

While I do have an extensive background, with a whole host of experience and knowledge, I have chosen a smaller business target with the types of services I actually provide as a repair and replace type technician. There is a much-missed, smaller niche, a gap, of opportunity to provide some of the shorter-term, smaller, much-needed services, and that is the gap I fulfill. I stick to the smaller projects which helps keep me flexible and available, not bogged down in large projects that tie a service provider up for days, weeks, or months. Availability, reliability, timeliness, speed, trust, and quality are all key aspects of the services I provide.


RATES, NOTES, and WORK AUTHORIZATION:
  • Work is based on a time and materials rate. Most jobs currently at $60 per hour rate, with a minimum of 1 hour per service call. With costs rising rapidly, and me doing my best to keep my base hourly rate down, please note that any part of an hour is charged as an hour. I do my best to get as much done as possible within an hour, but if the time goes over, I have to charge the additional hour(s) if I am going to stay in business and continue to provide these services.

  • PAYMENTS: Payment via cash (preferred), check, or Zelle, is appreciated when the job is completed.

  • I primarily provide Residential services in the North San Diego County area. Additional trip charges may apply to service calls that go beyond a 20 mile radius from my home location in Oceanside, California (Fire Mountain area - Hwy 78, Jefferson Street exit).

  • SHOPPING: For the most part, I do not do the shopping for supplies like light fixtures, faucets, window treatments, furniture, etc. Driving a van full of tools around and possibly visiting stores in various locations, hoping that I find what the customer likes, is a costly game. I have learned this the hard way. If you already have the fixtures, etc., I will replace or install them for you. If in the middle of a job I need a specific part, I will go and get it. For some jobs, depending upon the job type, and the mutually agreed upon arrangement, payment for needed supplies, parts, materials, and delivery charges (if applicable) may be required before any work begins. There are exceptions to all of the above, on a case-by-case basis, as discussed and mutually agreed upon.

  • NOTE: FIXFAST TECHNICIAN and / or general handyman-type work can be risky business. Touch one item in a house and it can have an impact on another part of an overall system. Example: Replace a leaking water valve in a plumbing system. The valve is properly replaced, leak is stopped, but somewhere else in the system a faulty pipe, valve, or connection starts leaking. Replace a kitchen faucet and an angle stop water supply valve below it starts leaking. Similar examples could apply to electrical systems, drilling holes into walls to install mirrors, pictures, art, window treatments, etc. While I do my best to avoid mishaps, and to forsee the nearly unforseebale through the use of measurement tools, sensors, standard, common practices and processes, the potential for a mishap, or additional problems, always exists. This is exactly why the FIXFAST TECHNICIAN SERVICES AGREEMENT is added to this website for your review and agreement. It clarifies the burden-sharing of hiring a TECHNICIAN (or handyman) you invite to perform services in your home or on your property.

    WORK AUTHORIZATION: All customers must review the FIXFAST TECHNICIAN SERVICES AGREEMENT prior to any work being performed. GENERAL LIST OF SERVICES I DO PROVIDE:
  • Convert to LED and / or replace light fixtures.
  • Replace or repair - electrical outlets, switches, light fixtures, bulbs, sensors, etc.
  • Replace or repair - minor plumbing, faucets, toilets, valves, spigots, angle stops, garbage disposals, etc.
  • Toilet and toilet tank repairs, adjustments and / or tank rebuilds, replace parts / seals, installations.
  • Replace, adjust, or repair - door locks, hinges, knobs, etc.
  • Install kitchen cabinet shelf / drawer sliders and cabinet handles / hardware.
  • Repair broken drawers.
  • Replace - window screens, latches / locks.
  • Replace or install - appliances.
  • Hook-up washer and dryer.
  • Replace or install - Ceiling fan / lights (Maximum 10 / 11 feet ceiling. Electric and box must already be in place.).
  • Replace furnace and other air filters.
  • Install / replace smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • Assemble furniture.
  • Hang / Mount - pictures, mirrors, shelves, etc.
  • Install wall mounted TVs. TVs over 65-inches require a second person to assist with the install so additional labor fees might apply. Also, hiding the wires within a wall may also require a wall wiring kit or other parts to accommodate the installation so additional fees for parts may apply as well.
  • Install hardware - Towel racks, hooks, knobs, etc.
  • Install window treatments - Curtains, blinds, shades.
  • Install sliding mirror closet doors.
  • Install under cabinet counter-top lights.
  • Install sliding doors locks.
  • Install shower / bath safety (grab) bars.
  • Replace medicine cabinet / mirrors.
  • Perform some caulking and sealing.
  • Clean-out dryer ducts.
  • Install / set-up smart home devices
  • Install video cameras, video doorbells, motion detectors, security lights, remote door locks, etc.
  • I have fixed or repaired all sorts of odd items, not listed here. I am pretty good at figuring out fixes and ideas. Contact me with any questions.

GENERAL LIST OF SERVICES I DO N O T PROVIDE:
  • I do NOT provide 24 hour, 7 days per week, emergency services for needs such as gas leaks, broken water pipes, etc. If available at the time of an emergency I will do my best to try and help, but I am not a 24 hour, 7 days per week emergency service provider.
  • No Roofing, attic, or crawlspace work
  • No Gardening
  • No Pest Control
  • No House Cleaning - I am not a janitor
  • No Landscaping
  • No Appliance repairs (Possibly some minor fixes or repairs)
  • No Glass / Glazier work or window track repairs or window installations
  • No Garage door repairs or installations
  • No Flooring, baseboards, molding, tiling, carpet removal or laying
  • No Drywall (except for small repairs, patches, and some related tasks)
  • No Stucco (except for small repairs, patches, and some related tasks)
  • No Concrete work (I do some minor patching, fixing, sealing, epoxy adhesion)
  • No Installing new fences (I do some fence, latch, hinge, and gate repair)
  • No Pressure / Power washing
  • No Painting (I do some minor touch-up)
  • No Hauling - I do not haul trash. I do not have the ability to haul large items - toilets, doors, etc., but if the items are on-site, or delivered, I can install them.
  • No Deep drain clog snaking / clearing.
  • I am not the best at replacing door weather seals and adjusting doors to prevent air leaks, etc. Sometimes I get lucky, but not something I take on too often.
  • No Replacing of bath / shower doors and / or shower door seals.
  • No high-wire (acts) / high-ceiling work (examples: Above 10 / 11 feet - high light fixtures, chandeliers, celing fan lights, etc.)
  • I am not a Carpenter. I have some basic woodworking skills, but it is not one of my key strengths.
  • I do not do the shopping for for you for items like light fixtures, faucets, window treatments, furniture, etc. (Click HERE for more details)
  • No Remodeling
  • No New construction
  • As always, I reserve the right to reject, or not perform, any services that go beyond my reasonable capabilities, availablity, or legal restrictions. Additionally, any services that could lead to additional, or more significant, problems beyond the scope of what I typically perform services for, or on, may be rejected or referred. Safety, security, and quality are always top priorities.

FIXFAST TECHNICIAN SERVICES AGREEMENT

This agreement is between Nick C. Casale of FIXFAST TECHNICIAN and all customers / companies who hire Nick C. Casale of FIXFAST TECHNICIAN to provide services.

PLEASE NOTE: By providing work orders or invitations (verbally or written) to perform TECHNICIAN services you are authorizing Nick C. Casale to perform the agreed upon FIXFAST TECHNICIAN Services in accordance with this entire agreement.

THE FOLLOWING TERMS, AGREEMENTS, AND CONDITIONS APPLY:
  • Depending upon the type of job, payment for needed supplies, parts, materials, and delivery charges (if applicable) may be required before any work begins.

  • My time picking up supplies, parts, and materials before, after, or during a work project is all billable. I only charge you what I pay for materials, no added fees, just my time.

  • I primarily provide Residential services in the North San Diego County area. Additional trip charges may apply to service calls that go beyond a 20 mile radius from my home location in Oceanside, California (Fire Mountain area - Hwy 78, Jefferson Street exit).

Nick C. Casale - FIXFAST TECHNICIAN agrees to provide FIXFAST TECHNICIAN services at the current quoted hourly rate, or the agreed upon quoted price. Additional costs are applied for any required parts, materials and any specialized tools, as applicable. Quality services combined with safety and efficiency are top priorities. Most FIXFAST TECHNICIAN services will be billed in one hour increments, any part of an hour is charged as an hour, with a one hour minimum. The customer / company hereby agrees to pay for the above services on the day the services are provided unless previous payment arrangements have been agreed to. The customer / company also agrees to pay for the time that it takes to pick up materials and supplies to complete the agreed upon job.
